August News

Generally, August is a quiet month - at least in terms of meetings. But we look forward to welcoming holiday-makers and regular visitors at our full range of services - please see the Website Diary for details...

However, there are a couple of special weekends which need flagging up:

From Friday August 10th to Sunday August 12th the annual Mortehoe Scarecrow Festival is up and running again - this time with the theme "A Tale of Two Potters" (Beatrix and Harry, if you're wondering!). The scarecrows will be out and about between 10.00 and 5.00 each day - all you need to do is pick up your trail map, either from Mortehoe Museum or North Morte Farm. Although the Festival is no longer organised by St. Mary's, there will be scarecrows in the church, and the weekend will finish, as usual, with a special Songs of Praise service in St. Mary's at 6.30 on Sunday 12th. Roll up! Roll up!

And, from Saturday 25th to Monday 27th August, there will be a Lee Village Flower Festival centred on St. Matthew's Church, with refreshments available in the Hall opposite the church. More than a dozen groups will be contributing displays, to build up a floral picture of "Our Village". The Festival runs from 11.00 to 5.00 each day - come and see!

Resistance is not futile
